Shimla, Jun 11 (PTI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today exhorted the media to become a partner in development and solving the problems of the people, saying the government alone could not solve all the issues.

At the prize distribution function of the two day Inter-States Press Club Cricket Tournament hosted by the Shimla Press Club here, the chief minister said the tendency that the government should do all the works had to change as all sections of the society, including the media, should contribute to development.

Referring to the recent water crisis in Shimla, he said water shortage was nothing new for Shimla, but it was projected as a big issue, which affected tourism.

Thakur said for the first time, the government had put a mechanism in place and the crisis was resolved.

The media had a crucial role to play in such circumstances as the water crisis was neither created by the government nor was it responsible for it, he said.

Taking a dig at those who are still trying to challenge his authority, the BJP leader said, "If I am the chief minister, I am the chief minister and everyone should accept this fact without any doubt or reservations."
