London [UK], April 18 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday highlighted the need for medical care in India for the poor, and elderly.

He said this when one of the attendants drew a parallel between the ObamaCare and ModiCare while questioning about the progress of healthcare in India at the 'Bharat ki Baat, Sabkey Saath' programme at London.

In response to it, Prime Minister Modi outlined three priorities of the government: "Children must be educated", 'Youth must have jobs" and "the elderly must have access to medicines."

He further expressed his wish to establish 1.5 lakh healthcare centers in the country.

While discussing the economic situation in the country, Prime Minister expressed his concern towards the poor, marginalised and the downtrodden and took his own life example to point out the same.

"I do not need to read books to understand poverty. I have lived in poverty. I know what it is to be poor and belong to the backward sections of society. I want to work for the poor, the marginalised and the downtrodden" Prime Minister Modi said.

Further, a short video clip was played in the event depicting the developmental activities undertaken by the Bhartiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance government in the country.

Prime Minister Modi is ending the first day of his London visit by interacting with Indian diaspora at an event titled 'Bharat Ki Baat, Sabke Saath'. Along with the live questions from the audience present there, questions were also sourced from Facebook, Twitter, and the NaMo app.
