Chandigarh, Apr 24 (PTI) The Haryana Police has arrested two persons, who had allegedly duped people on the pretext of doubling their money in five years, police said today.

The accused, identified as Inder Singh, a resident of Lavan Majra village, and Jagu Ram, branch manager, a resident of Bhakli village, a spokesperson of the police department said here.

He said that the police has registered a case against 10 persons, including two brothers, who are the operators of the firm.

The spokesperson said that Singh and his brother Agnivesh had opened a company in the Brass Market, Rewari namely Navjyoti BRF Private Limited in 2010.

"The company promised people to double their money in five years. As many as 30 agents were hired to bring customers. Large number of people from Rewari and Mahendragarh had invested about Rs 8 to 10 crore in the company. After completion of the time period, the investors demanded their double amount, but the company started making excuses," he said in an official release.

Even the office in the Brass Market was shut down by the owners. When the dispute increased, the owners gave assurance to return money in March.

After not getting their money even in April, the investors made a complaint to the superintendent of police, Rewari, he said.

Following the complaint, the police started investigation and arrested two accused, who were produced in the court today.

Singh has been sent to four-day remand and Jagu Ram has been sent to a day's police remand, he added.
