Guwahati, Nov 24 (PTI) Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said Saturday that his government was committed to make the state stronger with the help of all communities and ethnic groups.

There are sections of people as well as organisations who are trying to spread misinformation but the government would not do anything against the interests of the people of the state, the Sonowal said on Saturday on the occasion of 'Lachit Divas' commemorating the victory of Ahom rulers over the Mughals, led by its general Lachit Barphukan.

"The present BJP-led state government has adopted a humane approach and an uncompromising stance towards governance since the beginning and in the future as well, the government would not do anything against the interests of the people of the state," Sonowal added.

The state government was committed to ensure equal development of all the 68 lakh families of the state and had adopted zero-tolerance against corruption, he said.

In the case of terrorism also, the state government has adopted a similar stance and no culprit would be allowed to go scot-free, he said.

Sonowal also announced that the state government would make a feature film on the life and brave deeds of Lachit Barphukan.

"When we think of Lachit Barphukan, a sense of courage comes to our mind and so on the occasion of Lachit Divas, we should all take a pledge to strengthen age-old peace, amity and harmonious coexistence in our state," Sonowal added. PTI
