Ghaziabad (UP), Jan 23 (PTI) A six-year-old boy suspectedly died of asphyxiation here and 4 members of his family fell unconscious after they kept a coal-brazier in their room before going to sleep, police said on Thursday.

The incident took place at Sanjay Colony in Arthla area of Sahibabad on Wednesday, they said.

The exact cause behind the family members fainting and the boy's death is yet to be ascertained and it may also be food poisoning, an official said.

When the house owner, Balram, returned home, he found his wife Renu (32), daughters Soni (13), Moni (11) and Manisha (9) and son Anmol in an unconscious state, Deputy Superintendent of Police Rakesh Mishra told PTI.

The five were rushed to GTB hospital in Delhi, where Anmol died during treatment, the officer said, adding that Manisha has been discharged and the three girls are undergoing treatment.

The autopsy report of the boy is yet to be received, the officer said.
