French Director Julien Landais Excited to Be a Part of IFFI

Ahead of the opening of International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Julien Landais, Director of the opening film 'The Aspern papers' said he was excited to be a part of the 49th edition.

Panaji, (Goa) [India] Nov 19 (ANI): Ahead of the opening of International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Julien Landais, Director of the opening film 'The Aspern papers' said he was excited to be a part of the 49th edition.

From the cast and crew of the film, actors Nicolas Hau, Barbara Meier and Lois Robbins were also present with the director at the press briefing.

Addressing the media, Julien said, "It is a real honour for me to be in India to present my film at this prestigious festival. My film is an adaptation of a famous novella by Henry James, which is set in Venice in the late 19th century. I felt like it was the right subject for my first feature and fit in the incredible actors to embody these special characters. So I'm very happy to be here with my team."

Meanwhile, IFFI's festival director thanked the crew of the opening film for coming to Goa for this event. One of the actors of the film, Lois Robbins said that this was her first time in India.

"It is a beautiful country; Goa is fantastic and thanks so much for having us all. Shooting The Aspern Papers was an experience I don't think I will ever have again as an actor," Lois said.

The film stars Golden Globe winner Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Golden Globe-nominated actress Joely Richardson, her mother - six-time Oscar nominee and Academy Award winner Vanessa Redgrave, Julia Robins, Morgane Polanski.

Set in Venice in the late 19th century, the film tells the story of an American editor determined to get his hands on the letters the Romantic poet Jeffrey Aspern wrote to his beautiful lover and muse, Juliana Bordereau.

The 49th International Film Festival of India begins on Tuesday, 20 November 2018 and ends on Wednesday, 28th November 2018, in Panaji, Goa. The festival will showcase 212 films from over 68 countries. In this edition, the Country of Focus will be Israel. (ANI)
