Five Undocumented Immigrants Die in SUV Crash in US
At least five undocumented immigrants were killed on Sunday as a speeding vehicle crashed while fleeing from Border Patrol agents in United States' South Texas.
San Antonio (Texas) [United States], June 18 (ANI): At least five undocumented immigrants were killed on Sunday as a speeding vehicle crashed while fleeing from Border Patrol agents in United States' South Texas.
Four people were killed at the scene and the fifth person died at a hospital in San Antonio, reported CNN.
The victims have been taken to the local hospitals.
The SUV was travelling around 100 mph and the crash occurred 45 to 50 miles from the Mexico border, the report quoted Dimmit County Sheriff Marion Boyd, as saying.
"We've seen this many, many times, in not only this county but other counties along the border. It's a problem. ... This is, I think, a perfect example of why our borders need to be secure," he added.
The incident comes in the backdrop of heightened tensions over the treatment of immigrants at the southern border and tougher immigration policies of the Trump administration. (ANI)
