Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], Nov 18 (ANI): Ravinder Uppula, a software engineer with IT major Infosys will be contesting as an Independent candidate from the Serilingampally constituency in the upcoming Telangana polls.

The 46-year-old has been working with Infosys as a software engineer from last 20 years.

Speaking to ANI, Uppula said that he made the decision of contesting polls as he is not happy with the state of affairs in the country.

"Political corruption is one of the major root cause for the problems that the public is facing today, politicians are not showing any integrity, accountability and transparency. Software people are not disconnected from society. They are also involved in many social activities. They are just not participating in the elections as they are disappointed by the current of state affairs in the politics which can't be changed." Ravinder said.

"I want to take part in the election to Clean Indian Politics and Get Rid of Corruption and prove that the politicians can also be honest, " he added.

He also alleged that all the candidates who contest elections make the same promises but nothing changes.

Uppula also made three promises. First, that he will not get involved in corruption and will work for the people. Second, after every 100 days, he will provide an assessment on what he had done so far and what would be his agenda for the next 100 days. Third, he promised to undergo a lie detector test to prove that he is working with utmost honesty.

This is Ravindra's second attempt. He had also contested in the 2014 assembly elections. (ANI)
