Fake News, Not Press, the Enemy of the People: Trump Clarifies

Washington D. C. United States President Donald Trump on Thursday said that his daughter, Ivanka Trump was correct in her remark that media is not the enemy of the people.

Washington D. C. [USA], Aug 03 (ANI): United States President Donald Trump on Thursday said that his daughter, Ivanka Trump was correct in her remark that media is not the enemy of the people.

Taking to his Twitter handle, Trump clarified that fake news is the real enemy of people.

"They asked my daughter Ivanka whether or not the media is the enemy of the people. She correctly said no. It is the FAKE NEWS, which is a large percentage of the media, that is the enemy of the people!" he tweeted.

This comes in light of Ivanka being asked at an event in Washington if "the media is the enemy of the people," to which she replied by saying, "No, I do not," reported CNN.

"I've certainly received my fair share of reporting on me personally that I know not to be fully accurate, so I have some sensitivity around why people have concerns and gripe, especially when they're sort of targeted. But no, I do not feel that the media is the enemy of the people," she added.

Earlier it was reported that such a reply from Ivanka put her at odds with the view expressed by her father about media.

When White House Press Secretary Sarah Hucklebee Sanders on Thursday was asked whether she approves to the stance that 'media is the enemy of people', she declined to answer and said that she was attacked on several occasions.

"The media continues to ratchet up the verbal assault against the President and everyone in this administration, and certainly we have a role to play, but the media has a role to play for the discourse in this country as well," Sanders added. (ANI)
