Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], Oct 28 (ANI): A low-pressure area is likely to form over west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours, due to which enhanced rainfall activity is likely to occur over coastal Odisha during the night of Sunday to Tuesday.As per a special bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department on Sunday, a message has been sent across to all collectors in this regard, under which it has been clearly stated to closely monitor the situation and take necessary steps.Furthermore, fishermen have been advised to not venture into the deep sea of West Central and North Bay of Bengal area on Monday and Tuesday, and those who are there have been advised to return by tonight. No fishing trawlers or boats are allowed to leave for fishing in the sea.Odisha government has also directed all concerned deputy directors of fisheries and coastal districts fishery officers to ensure cent percent return of those fishing boats and vessels which had left for sea earlier by today immediately due to a cyclonic weather forecast. They have been asked to take all necessary measures and steps to safeguard the lives of fishermen and fishing crew due to the adverse weather forecast.Director Fisheries have been told to closely oversee and ensure the implementation of the Standard Operating Procedure and directions for achieving zero casualties.Heavy rainfall is also likely to occur over Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore while rain/ thundershower is expected in some interior districts.
