New Delhi, May 25 (PTI) The south Delhi district administration today launched a drive against water maifia in Devali and Sangam Vihar areas, during which four borewells were sealed while the owner of five underground tanks was directed to demolish those.
According to the administration, officials of the revenue department, DDMA, Delhi Police and the BSES visited seven sites in Devali and Sangam Vihar in south Delhi.
"At four sites, tankers were found filling water from borewells. Four borewells were sealed and six tankers sent to police station," South District Magistrate Amzad Tak said in a statement.
At five sites, underground water tanks were found, he said, adding that pipelines were sealed and the owner was directed to destroy the tankers within seven days.
According to the statement, a few Delhi Jal Board (DJB) tankers were also checked and the team found that the drivers were not having proper slips,
"They (drivers) could not explain about the destination. Theirs slips are taken into custody. The BSES has taken away all the heavy electrical metres," it said.
