Dharamshala (Himachal Pradesh) [India], Jun 12 (ANI): Tibetian spiritual leader The Dalai Lama is in the "best of the health", confirmed spokesperson of the Central Tibetan Administration, Sonam Dagpo on Tuesday giving rest to rumours surrounding the former's health.

"The news is fake. His Holiness The Dalai Lama is in best of health. And... I think recently he was very active in giving teachings to the students and also meeting Indians and the international community in Dharamsala. He also attended so many local events in Dharamsala itself. Now his holiness Dalai Lama is Lithuania. He'll be giving teachings and public talks there," Sonam Dagpo told ANI.

Dagpo added that Dalai Lama is delivering talks and giving sermons to devotees all over the world busting the reports that the spiritual leader had prostate cancer and is undergoing treatment in the US.

Earlier on Monday, a media report suggested that the Tibetan leader "is suffering from prostate cancer and has been undergoing treatment in the US for the last two years," adding that it has "advanced well into the last stages."

The 82-year-old spiritual leader is on an 11-day tour of Lithuania and Latvia at the moment. He is a frequent traveller but his restricted movement over the past couple of months fueled the speculations about his health.

The Dalai Lama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989. After a rebellion against the Chinese rule in 1959, the spiritual leader had exiled himself in India and has since been living mostly in Himachal Pradesh's Dharamsala. The Nobel laureate's supporters operate a government-in-exile and promote Tibet's autonomy by peaceful means. (ANI)
