Mumbai, Jun 7 (PTI) The BJP today nominated Ameet Mehta for the Maharashtra Legislative Council election from the Mumbai division graduates constituency. Today was the last day for filing of nomination papers for four Council seats going to the polls on June 25.
Mehta will be pitted against Shiv Sena's Vilas Potnis.
Sena and BJP candidates would be clashing in three out of the four Council seats: Mumbai teachers, Konkan graduates and Nashik teachers constituencies.
In Nashik, 25 candidates are in the fray, while the number is 22 in Konkan division graduates constituency.
Fourteen candidates have filed papers in Mumbai graduates constituency and 12 in Mumbai teachers constituency.
The Congress has fielded Ajit S Lathar in Nashik teachers constituency.

Scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on June 8, the last date of withdrawal is June 11, polling will be held on June 25 and counting will be held on June 28.
BJP, Sena and NCP candidates are pitted against each other in Konkan graduates and Mumbai graduates constituencies.
The NCP has made election to Konkan graduates constituency a prestige issue by fielding former Thane corporator Najeeb Mulla to take on BJP's Niranjan Davkhare.
Davkhare quit the NCP last month and joined the BJP. Another candidate in the fray is Sanjay More of the Shiv Sena.
In Mumbai graduates constituency, the Sena denied the ticket to its three-term legislator and Public Health Minister Deepak Sawant, and fielded Vilas Potnis instead. The Sena has held this seat since 1986.
