Shimla, Jun 13 (PTI) The Himachal Pradesh High Court today took a serious note of indifferent, callous and uncaring approach of planners and authorities regarding construction of parking at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) here and directed the chief secretary to file a report within two weeks.

A division bench of Acting Chief Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Sandeep Sharma also asked the Chief Secretary to indicate complete details about vehicles owned and parked by doctors and employees in and around IGMC and approximate inflow of patients and visitors to the medical college.

The chief secretary was also asked to inform the court within what time frame parking proposed to be constructed near IGMC under AMRUT Mission shall be made functional.

In case the affidavit is not filed by the due date, the chief secretary shall personally remain present in person in the court in the next hearing, the bench said.

The orders were passed on a petition filed by an advocate highlighting the plight of patients visiting IGMC.

Since IGMC is only multi-specialty hospital in the state patients from entire Himachal Pradesh visits it for their treatment, the petitioner said.

The petitioner further averred that due to paucity or non-availability of parking place, patients or their attendants are compelled to park their vehicles either on the main road or on the streets leading to IGMC.

He sought directions to the respondents to construct the proposed car parking at IGMC under 'AMRUT Mission' without any delay.
