Mumbai, Sep 17 (PTI) The Congress Monday termed Nagpur Mayor Nanda Jichkar's reported act of taking her son as a private secretary on an official visit to the United States as "corruption of highest order".
All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary for Maharashtra Ashish Dua alleged that the "misuse, misappropriation and mismanagement" of privileges by the mayor, who belongs to the BJP, has lowered national prestige at international fora.
"Misuse, misappropriation & mismanagement of privileges by #BJP at international fora lowers national prestige. Also, such rampant drainage of public resources for personal gains by #Nagpur Mayor is corruption of highest order, but will there be any action?" Dua asked on Twitter.
According to media reports, Jichkar took her son along as a private secretary to San Francisco in the US last week.
Her son's tour was funded by Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, an international alliance of cities.
Jichkar's tour ended last Saturday, the report said.
