New Delhi [India], Oct 9 (ANI): Union Environment Minister Harsh Vardhan on Tuesday said that climate change is a major issue for the whole world, adding the government is helping all the states to implement their climate action programmes.
"Climate change is a major issue for the whole world. Recently we suffered Kerala floods, so we have to be very serious about it
"Our Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) has already shown exemplary commitment for ensuring all possible actions and supports, devising new innovative scientific strategies."
Speaking on the recent report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the Minister said, "Our stand is not waiting for any report, all the scientific publications and UN reports keep coming but we work because of our commitment to the cause, we do respect the report but not waiting for them to take action."
Earlier, the IPCC in a new assessment said limiting global warming to 1.5°C would require rapid, far-reaching and unprecedented changes in all aspects of society.
"With clear benefits to people and natural ecosystems, limiting global warming to 1.5°C compared to 2°C could go hand-in-hand with ensuring a more sustainable and equitable society," the IPCC said on Monday. (ANI)
