The 37-year-old who has been playing the role for the last eight years announced that he has officially finished shooting for 'Avengers 4', writing how it had been an "emotional day" for him. Evans also thanked everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, for the memories.

He has played the superhero since 2011's 'Captain America: The First Avenger'. He has starred in two sequels - 2014's 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' and 2016's 'Captain America: Civil War' - along with two 'Avengers' movies.

In an interview with The New York Times in March this year, Evans had hinted that he might retire as Captain America after 'Avengers 4'.
