New Delhi, May 13 (PTI) Delhi Congress President Ajay Maken today led a candle-light protest march of party workers towards Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence demanding his resignation for alleged corruption in awarding the Rs 571 crore contract for installing 1.5 lakh CCTV cameras in the national capital to a Chinese company.

Addressing the protesters, Maken alleged that the award of the contract to the Chinese government-run Hikvision "compromised national security", a statement from the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) said.

Maken also told the protestors that the initial cost of the project was Rs 130 crore and it was later hiked to Rs 571.40 crore and demanded an enquiry into how a Chinese government-run company was included in the vendors list of BEL, it said.

On Friday the Delhi Congress chief had said, "The AAP dispensation is claiming that the contract for CCTV camera installation has been given to public sector unit BEL. But, the first tender was rejected because Hikvision was not in the vendor list of BEL. Later on BEL list was updated in fourth quarter of 2017-18 and Prama Hikvision India Pvt. Ltd. was included in it along with other vendors."

The AAP government has denied all the allegations made by the Congress.
