Hyderabad, Jun 23 (PTI) Gearing up for the simultaneous elections to Lok Sabha and Telangana Legislative Assembly next year, state BJP president K Laxman today launched his 'Jana Chaitanya Yatra' (yatra to raise peoples awareness)from neighbouring Yadadri district.

Laxman offered prayers at the famous Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple at Yadadri before launching the yatra.

Addressing a public meeting at Bhuvanagari in the district on the first day of the yatra, Laxman hit out at the TRS government for its alleged failures on various fronts, including jobs and housing.

The mass-contact programme would 'expose the failures the TRS government' and highlight the achievements of the NDA government at the Centre, Laxman had said earlier.

Former Union Minister and BJP MP Bandaru Dattatreya, BJP General Secretary Muralidhar Rao and a number of other party leaders were present on the occasion.

The programme would continue till July 6 in the first phase.

The yatra,being led on a 'Rath',would cover nine districts, BJP said.

Laxman would be riding on a Rath (a modified bus) which was also used by Karnataka BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa during the recent assembly elections in the state, BJP sources said yesterday. PTI SJR APR
