Bihar minister Ashok Choudhary has received an invitation for taking part in the "International Conference on Education and Learning" (ICEL) scheduled at Beijing later this year.
Patna, July 10 (PTI) Bihar minister Ashok Choudhary has received an invitation for taking part in the "International Conference on Education and Learning" (ICEL) scheduled at Beijing later this year.
Choudhary, who holds the Building Construction portfolio in the Nitish Kumar government, has been notified about the acceptance of his research paper "Education in India: 2022" vide a letter from the ICEL dated June 22, 2019.
"It is a pleasure to accept your submission for publication in the proceedings of ICEL 2019. Therefore, the conference would like to invite you to attend the ICEL to be held at Beijing Conference Centre from 13-15 November, 2019", the letter signed by Bob Barrett of the American Public University, who shall be chairing the conference, said.
ICEL is a platform for scholars, researchers and practitioners to discuss interdisciplinary research and practices and exchange ideas and findings in the fields of education and learning.
"It is a humbling experience. I have always considered myself a student who keeps learning throughout his life. The conference will provide me with an opportunity to elucidate my vision for education scenario in our country by 2022 when we shall be completing 75 years of Independence", Choudhary said.
Notably, Choudhary - who has done his MA from Patna University and Ph.D. from Magadh University, Bodh Gaya, had served as the state Education minister in the Nitish Kumar government till July 2017 when he was also the president of the Bihar Congress.
Soon after Kumar walked out of the Grand Alliance, of which the Congress was a part, Choudhary - known to be close to the chief minister - was removed as the state Congress chief at the instance of a rival faction within the party.
The 51-year-old, who had led the Congress to one of its best electoral performance in recent times, in the 2015 Assembly polls, quit the Congress in February last year and joined the JD(U) headed by Kumar.
He was inducted into the state cabinet last month and given the Building Construction portfolio.
Choudhary is the son of late Mahaveer Choudhary, a prominent Dalit leader of his time who had served as a minister in many Congress governments.
