Bihar Cong Attacks Paswan over Comments Against Rahul Gandhi
The Bihar Congress today attacked Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan for stating that Rahul Gandhi stood little chance of becoming the Prime Minister after the next general elections since there was "no vacancy" for the post in 2019.
Patna, May 14 (PTI) The Bihar Congress today attacked Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan for stating that Rahul Gandhi stood little chance of becoming the Prime Minister after the next general elections since there was "no vacancy" for the post in 2019.
In a statement issued here, Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee acting president Kaukab Qadri described Paswan as a "weathercock" and termed his snide remarks against Gandhi as "in poor taste" and "uncalled for".
"Ram Vilas Paswan is a weathercock known for changing stance according to political expediency. He has solely been interested in promoting his own family," Qadri alleged.
The LJP chief had joined the BJP-led NDA ahead of the 2014 assembly polls, dumping his alliance with the Congress at the national level and Lalu Prasad's RJD in Bihar.
"His comments on Rahul Gandhi were in poor taste and uncalled for. The Congress president could have become the Prime Minister during the 10 years of UPA rule had he been greedy for power," Qadri said.
Paswan had yesterday mocked at Gandhi's recent statement wherein the Congress president had said he was "ready" to become the Prime Minister if his party emerged as the "single largest" party in the elections.
