Chandigarh, Jun 27 (PTI) Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh today directed the Deputy Commissioners of the state to be more aggressive in their crackdown on drug cartels and gangsters.

Singh was interacting with the officers through a video conference and told them that a lot of work was needed to be done to eliminate the menace of drugs and gangsters in the state, the chief minister told the DCs asking them to show results, an official spokesperson said.

Underlining the need to speed up the pace of employment generation, Singh said the administration was duty-bound to save the future of the youth.

The chief minister also directed the DCs to provide all support and back-up, including uninterrupted power supply, for ensuring smooth paddy procurement, while asking them to keep a check on the spread of any crop diseases.

During the conference, Singh launched the on-line property document registration system for the district of Amritsar, completing the process of bringing the entire state into the ambit of the scheme, designed to ensure speedy and transparent registration of property documents.
