Guwahati, Apr 3 (PTI) Assam government will spend Rs2.58 crore to set up a high-mast National Flag here as part ofthe Smart City project, a state minister said today.Guwahati Development Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma toldthe Assam Assembly that a total of 13 schemes andinfrastructure development projects are being carried out totransform the state capital into a Smart City.Sarma said the sanctioned cost for completing 12projects is Rs 2,303.50 crore, while no amount has been fixedyet for the City Operation Centre.Out of this, Rs 2.58 crore has been earmarked forimplementing the high-mast national flag construction projectin Guwahati."The work has been allotted after completing thetender process," he said, without giving any further detail.The highest amount of Rs 826 crore will be spent forthe overall development of Brahmaputra riverside along thecity, and the Detailed Project Report (DPR) is being preparedfor it, the minister said.For development of Mora Bharalu river bank and theBharalu river, the state government has sanctioned Rs 488crore and Rs 434 crore, respectively, with DPRs for bothunder preparation, he said.DPR is also being prepared for another Rs 250-crore project to conserve the Deepor Beel lake in the city, while tender has been floated for interested parties to carry out development works worth Rs 212 crore at the Borsola Beel lake, Sarma added.
