Jakarta [Indonesia], August 21 (ANI): India on Tuesday won its maiden medal in Sepak takraw as they settled for the bronze after going down against Thailand 0-2 in the semi-finals of the men's team Regu Event at the ongoing 18th edition of Asian Games.
The Indian side had started their campaign on a winning note by registering a 2-1 victory over Iran.
The team, subsequently, lost their second match to Indonesia 0-2.
Since Iran lost two back to back matches in the competition, India got a direct entry into the semi-final of the competition, ensuring a bronze medal for the nation.
The women's Regu team, on the other hand, could only manage to win their opening match 3-0 against Korea before slumping to a 1-2 defeat at the hands of Laos.
The team lost their quarter-final clash 0-3 against Thailand which, ultimately, eliminated them from the medal race.
India's total medal tally at the ongoing 18th edition of the prestigious event now stands at nine with three gold, three silver and three bronze. (ANI)
