The incidents in Arunachal often go unreported as the certain areas are not easily accessible, the CM said, adding that the Information and Public Relations Department has formulated policies to encourage the growth of media houses in the state.
"I have instructed the ministers, MLAs and even officers to utilize social media like Facebook and Twitter to highlight the development works of the state," Khandu said here after launching an English Daily and a cable TV network, owned by former MLA Kipa Babu.
He exhorted journalists to cover areas that are largely ignored by the mainstream media and ensure the development of those places at par with the state capital.
Around hundred hamlets in the state would be converted into smart villages soon in partnership with private investors, the CM said.
"Poor connectivity will soon become a thing of the past in the state with the installation of 1800 mobile towers at an estimated cost of Rs 1800 crore in the remote areas," Khandu said, adding that work on the project has begun at Pasighat area in East Siang district.
Talking about the new cable TV network, Khandu said, "This will go a long way in providing uninterrupted services in the mountainous terrain of the state. The satellite signals get disrupted for almost nine months due to monsoons."
