Bilaspur, Sep 11 (PTI) Amit Jogi, state chief of Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (J), arrested for allegedly giving wrong information in a poll affidavit, was shifted to a government hospital in Raipur on Wednesday for a medical examination, jail officials said.

Jogi, who was lodged in Gaurela sub jail of Bilaspur district since September 3, was admitted to Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Science (CIMS) Bilaspur on September 6 after he complained of uneasiness and chest pain.

On the same day, he was referred to Apollo Hospital in Bilaspur, a senior jail official here said.

Doctors in Apollo Hospital confirmed that he was medically fit for discharge on Wednesday. However, Jogi expressed his willingness to be shifted to a private hospital in Delhi-NCR for treatment, he said.

"Jogi was then shifted to Raipur forexamination by a medical board to take a call on his health condition and whether shifting him to Delhi is required or not", the official said.

Jogi was brought to Raipur central jail in the evening from where he was admitted at state-run Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital (BRAMH), Raipur, the official said.

The pubic relations officer at BRAMH said, Jogi was being examined by a team of three doctors in the emergency ward.

Earlier on Wednesday, Chhattisgarh High Court has summoned the case diary pertaining to Amit Jogi while hearing his bail plea.

The HC did not give any relief to Jogi on his bail plea and posted the matter for next hearing.

During the hearing at the bench of Justice RCS Samant, Jogi's lawyers Vivek Sharma and Gary Mukhopadhyay sought his bail on the medical ground.

Sharma argued that Apollo Hospital, where Jogi was admitted, asked to refer him to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram and he needs better treatment.

Advocate General Satish Chandra Verma, who appeared for the state, opposed Jogi's bail plea saying that Jogi's medical examination in Apollo Hospital confirmed that he is completely healthy.

The petitioner's lawyers said they asked to provide copy of the medical report presented by state counsel.

After hearing both the sides, the HC ordered to provide the medical report, presented by the state counsel, to the petitioner's counsel and also summoned the case diary, Sharma said.

Amit Jogi was arrested on September 3 following a complaint lodged by Sameera Paikra, BJP candidate from Marwahi during the 2013 state Assembly polls.

Jogi had won the 2013 election from Marwahi.

A local court had remanded him to judicial custody for 14 days on September 3, rejecting his bail plea. Later, the bail plea was also turned down by a sessions court, following which he approached the HC.

Paikra, who had lodged the complaint in February this year, has alleged that Amit Jogi submitted wrong information about the date and place of birth in the affidavit while filing his nomination for the 2013 polls.

Jogi mentioned his birthplace as Sarbahara village in Bilaspur district, but when he applied for Indian citizenship, he mentioned that he was born in the United States, according to the complaint.

He was booked under IPC sections 420 (cheating) and 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating).
