Washington D.C. [U.S.A.], Sep 28 (ANI): United States President Donald Trump has postponed his meeting with Deputy Attorney General, Rod Rosenstein to discuss his tenure to avoid any interference with the sexual assault hearing of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
According to the USA Today, White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said, "The president spoke with Rod Rosenstein a few minutes ago and they plan to meet next week. They do not want to do anything to interfere with the hearing."
The meeting was scheduled following reports of the Rosenstein's possible ouster.
According to The Hill, there has been broad speculation about the future of Rosenstein's job after The New York Times reported on Friday that he suggested secretly taping the president last year and recruiting Cabinet officials to remove Trump from office.
However, Rosenstein refuted these claims. The deputy attorney general, while dismissing the "factually incorrect" allegations, had earlier said that there was no ground on which the 25th Amendment could be invoked.
Trump also later reiterated his support to the deputy attorney general saying, "He said he did not say it; he said he does not believe that. Nobody in this room believes it."
Brett Kavanaugh on Thursday testified in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee about sexual assault allegations levelled by Christine Blasey Ford.
Ford, a professor at Palo Alto University in California, had alleged that Kavanaugh had assaulted her during a party in the 1980s when they were both in high school. She had accused Kavanaugh of groping her and attempting to remove her clothes.
Kavanaugh, however, denied all the allegations during the testimony, saying that his reputation and that of his family has been "totally and permanently destroyed".(ANI)
