New Delhi [India], Oct 31 (ANI): The 46th Congress of the International Hockey Federation (FIH), on Wednesday launched its week-long programme in the New Delhi.
About 250 delegates from across the globe have gathered in the capital. The FIH Executive Board meeting and Continental Federation CEO's meet was also held. The FIH Honorary Awards, to be given to sportspersons, who have made an outstanding contribution to the game will be distributed on November 1.
The Congress meet, which is a biennial event, will conduct its meeting on November 3 at the Lalit Hotel. It is the governing body of the FIH and makes strategic decisions for the development and governance of hockey at the global level. Its agenda includes an overview of the status of the game, evolution and development worldwide.
The FIH President Narinder Dhruv Batra said that he is looking to develop the sport globally and gave details of the ten-year Hockey Revolution Strategy.
"Over the past years, we have worked tirelessly to develop and expand hockey worldwide. We have been almost halfway through the ten-year Hockey Revolution strategy. I am looking forward to holding fruitful discussions together. We strive to develop our sport globally and strengthen our governance to make hockey a global game," Batra said.
Furthermore, delegates will elect four members to the Executive Board, while the Athletes' committee will also be renewed. Other items on the agenda include the ratification of the appointment of the President of the Judicial Commission, an update on the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Solidarity Foundation as well as a report on the FIH finances.
