New Delhi, May 24 (PTI) A 22-year-old man was kidnapped, killed and his body chopped into six parts was dumped into two septic tanks allegedly by two acquaintances in Dwarka following which the accused were arrested, the police said today.

On May 13, Ramnath Yadav lodged a missing complaint for his 22-year-old son Sachin, who had not returned home since 7.30 am on May 12.

Sachin was an employee of a carpets shop in Chhawla area. Lalit Mishra, the shop owner, told police that when Sachin did not turn up for duty, he contacted him on phone.

Sachin told him that he was in Vatika colony and will be reaching the shop soon. Thereafter his phone was found switched off and he did not come, the police said.

When his family members also failed to contact him, a missing report was lodged at Baba Haridass Nagar. Police had advised his family member to keep trying to contact Sachin on his mobile phone.

On May 15, a call made on Sachin's number was picked up by someone who claimed that Sachin was in their captivity and switched off the phone.

Later, the caller demanded Rs 50 lakh for the safe release of Sachin and again warned of dire consequences if matter was reported to police.

Sachin's wife told police that on May 10, her husband told her that he and his acquaintance Varun Singh (26) were planning to start a business jointly, the police said.

On May 12, he had left to meet Varun. The family had no other clue of Varun.

Mishra told police that he knew Varun who was an expert in laying polyvinyl flooring. Varun's phone number was found switched off, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Shibesh Singh said.

Varun's rented accommodation was traced in Prem Nagar, a colony in the area of Chhawla police station, but his room was found locked, he said.

It was found that Varun had left the room with his family on May 14 for unknown destination.

Meanwhile, call details of phones of Sachin and Varun were procured and analysed. The location of last ransom call led the police to Rai Village in Sonipat where raids were conducted but in vain.

On May 17, the kidnappers again picked up the phone call of Yadav. The ransom amount was renegotiated to Rs 10 Lakh. He called Yadav to reach Azadpur Chowk with the amount.

A trap was laid but no one turned up, the officer said.

Meanwhile, the analysis of call detail records of Sachin and Varun's mobile phones revealed that both the SIM cards were being used in the same handset.

Four police personnel were sent to Varun's native place in Muzaffarpur of Bihar. Sachin's family members were advised to keep contacting the kidnapper so that his latest location could be ascertained.

The police team reached the native village of Varun and enquired about him where his real name came to be known as Bhushan Kumar Singh, the officer said, adding that he was not found at his home.

A raid was conducted at Dholly, where Varun's in-laws lived, and he was arrested from there and the mobile phone was recovered from his possession.

He revealed that his brother-in-law Rituraj Singh alias Vicky Singh (24) was also involved in making the ransom calls. Subsequently, Vicky was also nabbed, said the officer.

Varun revealed that along with his brother-in-law, he had killed Sachin on May 12 itself and after chopping his limbs and head, the body parts were dumped in septic tanks near his house in Prem Nagar.

He disclosed that he hatched a plan with Rituraj to earn quick money since they were facing hardships.

Varun knew Sachin since both of them were in the same field. He also knew that Sachin's family, although they were not so rich, however, they could sell half of their plot located in Ugarsen Park and pay them Rs 50 lakh as ransom to save Sachin, who was the only son, the DCP said.

As per his plan, Varun took a room on rent at Rs 5,000 per month at a short distance from the room where he was living with his family.

An investigator privy to the probe said that the room Varun had taken on rent was considered haunted and no one ventured into it. He thought it would be safe to hide Sachin's body, the police said.

He advised Sachin to start their own business to earn more money and called Sachin on the pretext of meeting a contractor.

On May 12, when Sachin reached the room, Varun introduced Rituraj as a contractor.

When Sachin was engaged in a discussion with Rituraj, Varun tried to gag him using adhesive tape, said the DCP.

Shocked, Sachin cried for help. Then Varun and Vicky strangulated him and applied adhesive tape so heavily around his mouth and nose that he could not breath or raise an alarm.

Thereafter, they took away his mobile and other belongings to facilitate their ransom calls and to convince his father that Sachin was in their safe custody.

After killing Sachin, they dismembered his limbs with a cutter blades that they used for cutting carpet and other flooring material. They dumped the limbs in a septic tank of the newly rented room and the remaining body of Sachin in another septic tank, the officer said.

Next day they fled with their families and reached Rai in Sonipat where the elder brother-in-law of Varun resided and made ransom call.

The body parts of Sachin were retrieved and a post-mortem examination was conducted yesterday.
