New Delhi, Apr 14 (PTI) Two Afghan nationals suspected to be involved in drug peddling and smuggling from Afghanistan to India in their abdomen were arrested here, police said today.

The two accused identified as Abdul Salam Rehmani (33) and Abdul Hakim Junaidi (33) were arrested from Lajpat Nagar on April 11, with the police recovering 900 gram of heroin and methaqualone, they added.

Police seized 60 capsules wrapped in a toffee like pattern from each of them.

The weight of the seized heroin drug recovered from the 60 capsules which were in possession of Rehmani was found to be 475 gram. Drug methaqualone recovered from 60 capsules which were in possession of Junaidi was found to be 425 grams.

During interrogation, Rehmani revealed that he worked as a rickshaw puller at his native place and his associate Junaidi ran a small departmental shop.

They wanted to earn quick money and four-five months ago they met one Md Shahi in Afghanistan who offered them to smuggle drug capsules from Afghanistan by swallowing them and expelling them once they reach their destination in India, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Chinmoy Biswal said.

Since they were financially weak, they agreed to smuggle the drugs consignment and were paid in the US dollars for the consignment, the accused told the police.
