Jakarta [Indonesia], June 13 (ANI): At least 13 people died on Wednesday when a passenger boat, packed with holidaymakers, heading to home to celebrate the end of Ramadan, capsized off the Indonesian island of Sulawesi.
Several media reports stated the boat was travelling from Makassar, provincial capital of South Sulawesi, to the resort island of Barrang Lompo, some 15kms northwest of the city's coast.
At least 22 passengers were rescued and admitted to hospital for treatment. Many people are said to be still missing.
The boat reportedly hit a large wave amid bad weather and capsized.
Search operations for the missing people are underway.
Ferry accidents are common in Indonesia, particularly during Eid when millions of Muslims across the country travel to their hometowns. (ANI)
