A SpiceJet flight-SG 88 operating from Bangkok to Delhi was diverted to Varanasi on Friday morning owing to medical emergency on board. After landing, passenger was rushed to hospital by SpiceJet team. However, the passenger was declared brought dead by the attending doctors said SpiceJet.

"Cabin Crew receive training in first aid and basic life support and in the use of emergency medical equipment, including Automated External Defibrillators (AED). However, limited space in an aircraft may pose serious problems while instituting even basic medical care on-board," says the SpiceJet manual says. It also says that advanced medical care may not be possible on flight. Delhi-Patna Spicejet Flight Diverted to Varanasi, Passengers Asked to Take a Bus.

On June 1, around 20 passengers were allegedly asked to take a bus after a Delhi-Patna Spicejet flight was diverted to Varanasi late night due to bad weather. The SG-8480 flight, which was supposed to reach Patna, landed in Varanasi at 10.40 pm. "Delhi-Patna SG-8480 Flight had to be diverted to Varanasi last night due to extremely bad weather at Patna. It landed at Varanasi at 10.40 p.m. and passengers were deplaned. Boarding completed at 11.50 pm but aircraft had to return to the bay as some passengers created ruckus inside aircraft," Spicejet had said in a statement.
