Mumbai, April 22: A Mumbai-based businessman was arrested on April 14 for allegedly raping an actress and making an MMS clip of her. The accused has been identified as 35-year-old Amit Agarwal. The victim is from Uttar Pradesh. According to the actress, Agarwal not only sexually assaulted her but also blackmailed her by threatening to share an MMS clip of her that he had recorded in 2017.

The actress met Agarwal at an event and the two got into a relationship and began living together. In 2017, she found a video clip of her being intimated with the accused. When she confronted Agarwal about why he recorded it, he ignored her. Since then, things changed and Agarwal started physically assaulting her, Times of India reported. "His approach toward me changed and he started physically assaulting me. I decided to pack up and leave for my hometown. Last year, I returned to Mumbai after getting engaged to a lawyer," the actress was quoted as saying. When Agarwal came to know that she was back in Mumbai, he started stalking her. He threatened her to share the MMS clip on social media to malign her name and later shared it with her friends.

"This made the victim give in to his demands and he physically tortured her till she learnt he had shared the clip with them," a police officer said.
